Interested in being on the IAYMH Executive Committee? Nominations are now open.

The IAYMH was established in 2012 to assist in advocating and collaborating for the mental health needs of young people around the globe.

IAYMH depends on volunteers to lead the Association by serving on the Executive Committee which oversees the management of IAYMH. With the two year term of the current Executive expiring at the end of this year, IAYMH is now calling for nominations to establish a new Executive Committee. This is an exciting opportunity to drive the direction of the Association, develop or enhance your governance skills and expand your network of professional contacts as well as contributing to the work of IAYMH.

The Committee comprises 12 members and IAYMH is seeking nominations for the positions of: 

  • President

  • Three Vice-Presidents, one designated for a young person aged 18 to 25.

  • Secretary/Treasurer (only members who reside in Australia are eligible to be appointed to this role).

  • 7 Ordinary members.

Information about the responsibilities of Committee members is provided in a separate Roles and Responsibilities document.

To be eligible, nominees must be a member of the IAYMH, be aged at least 18 years of age and be willing to serve a full two-year term.

You can nominate yourself or another member of the IAYMH (with their consent).

Committee Members are expected to attend (remotely) bi-monthly meetings and subcommittee meetings as required.

The IAYMH aims for one third of the committee members to be aged between 18-25 years and the Committee membership should represent the geographic diversity of the Association’s membership.

IAYMH Conference Brisbane 2019

We are pleased to announce the fifth IAYMH Conference will be held from 26–28 October 2019 in Brisbane, Australia.

Building on our inspiring 2017 Conference in Dublin, IAYMH 2019 will bring together people from across the globe who are passionate about working together to support and improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people.

The conference will connect young people and their families, researchers, practitioners, policy makers and more to drive a unified effort towards global and lasting change across the sector.

We are thrilled that IAYMH 2019 will be held in Australia. So much has changed in youth mental health since the first IAYMH Conference in Melbourne back in 2010 – there's been incredible momentum and progress across the world, but so much remains to be done. Far too many young people fail to get what they need, when they need it.

IAYMH 2019 will focus on strengthening international connections to make real and positive change for all young people. As with all IAYMH conferences, they will play an integral role in sharing their skills, voices and experiences – and will be involved in all aspects of planning and decision-making for Brisbane. The call for submissions for youth co-conveners will be made shortly; make sure you keep an eye out for this and share across your networks.

Please mark these dates in your diaries, and visit the IAYMH 2019 website to register your interest. We look forward to welcoming you to Australia for another unique and inspiring event next October.
